Boobs Rock!

Just in case some of you are not aware October is Breast Cancer awareness month. I thought it was a very appropriate topic since boobs are one of the main focuses in a Burlesque show.

But seriously, in the United States, 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer are found in women, just this year alone. About 39,520 women will die in 2011. So ladies get an annual check up, the earlier it is diagnosed the better chance for survival. You can help by donating to the cause or putting together some kind of fundraiser.  You can go to American Cancer Society, Susan B Komen for the Cure, or National Breast Cancer site. Some of the sites even let you set up an event page if you should decide to put together a fun day or evening towards the cause.

We are going to join Kiki's Sordid Sideshow Oct 23 at Numbers for CarnEvil a breast cancer fundraiser were all proceeds go towards MD Anderson. Find further information in the performance section of the Dem Damn Dames website. http://www.damndames.com/

Since Halloween is on the horizon, one of the first questions we ask is what are we going to dress up for Halloween? For the Burlesque performer they have to ask this question for every show. Costume inspiration can be found everywhere. I recently found some awesome costume ideas In the InStyle magazine.  Katy Perry's pinup inspired photoshoot is so classic and the fascinators are worth copying. Though I would add more glitter and lots of feathers. Later in the month, I want to explore further this question of Burlesque attire.
